Truck Licence and Heavy Vehicle Training for Rockhampton

Oz Logistics Training delivers heavy vehicle licensing, Dangerous Goods training and compliance certification for drivers and operators based in Rockhampton and across Central Queensland. We cover HR, HC and MC licensing, TLILIC0001 Dangerous Goods, Safe Load Programs, and the Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint and vehicle inspection units. Training is delivered on behalf of RTO RAISE (provider number 91655). We don’t run a permanent facility in Rockhampton; we deliver onsite group training at Rockhampton businesses, and individual licensing through our South East Queensland sites.

Built around Central Queensland freight conditions

Rockhampton sits at the connection point between Queensland’s coastal and inland freight networks. Drivers based here regularly run cattle, grain, construction, mining service freight, and general-line haul across long-distance routes that touch the Bruce Highway, the Capricorn Highway, and the inland routes into Emerald, Blackwater and the Bowen Basin. The licensing and compliance demands shift with that mix: a driver running general freight up the Bruce isn’t operating under the same expectations as one running mining service into Emerald.

The training is shaped to that. Standard licensing covers the fundamentals; the compliance suite (Chain of Responsibility, fatigue, load restraint) is what makes a driver employable across the actual operating mix in this region.

Onsite training for Rockhampton businesses

For operators running freight, transport or mining-service businesses out of Rockhampton, we deliver compliance and assessment training onsite for groups of five or more. The standard onsite suite is Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint, vehicle inspection, load and unload plant, and custom VOC assessments. This format is the most cost-effective way to refresh a crew’s compliance certifications without sending drivers out of region.

VOC assessments can be tailored to your fleet, the loads you carry, and the routes you actually run. If your operation includes specific combinations or load conditions that don’t fit a standard assessment, we’ll build the VOC around them.

Licensing for individual Rockhampton drivers

HR, HC and MC licensing is run from our SEQ training sites. Licence in a Day is the most commonly booked option for drivers travelling from Rockhampton: a single day to cover training, assessment and the Queensland Transport test. The HR Licence in a Day is $995 and the HC version is $1,400, both inclusive of the Queensland Transport booking fee.

For drivers who’d rather spread training across multiple sessions, hourly lessons are $150 for HR and $170 for HC with a two-hour minimum. This is generally only practical for drivers already in SEQ.

Why fatigue and Chain of Responsibility training matters for long-route work

A driver based in Rockhampton running freight to Brisbane, Mackay or out to the Bowen Basin is on long-route work, and fatigue is a structural risk rather than an occasional one. The TLIF0005 and TLIF0006 units cover fatigue risk management in practical terms (work and rest planning, fatigue indicators, fitness for duty), and the TLIF0080 and TLIF0009 units cover Chain of Responsibility obligations across the operational chain. For operators, these aren’t optional; they’re what NHVR audits and Chain of Responsibility prosecutions hinge on.

We run all four as standalone short courses ($300 each) and bundle them for crew compliance refreshes.

Rockhampton truck training FAQs

Q: Where do I do my HR licence training if I’m based in Rockhampton?

A: For HR, HC and MC licence training, drivers travel to our SEQ training sites. The Licence in a Day program is the standard option and is structured as a single-day intensive: training, assessment and the Queensland Transport booking fee in one fee. Travel and accommodation are your own cost.

Q: Can you deliver training onsite at our Rockhampton depot?

A: Yes, for compliance and assessment courses, with a minimum group size. We deliver Chain of Responsibility, fatigue, load restraint, vehicle inspection, load and unload plant, and custom VOC assessments onsite. Phone 0434 723 871 to discuss crew size, units and timing.

Q: What units do I need for general freight driving in Central Queensland?

A: The licence (HR, HC or MC depending on the vehicle) is the baseline. Most operators also require Chain of Responsibility (TLIF0080 or TLIF0009), fatigue management (TLIF0005 or TLIF0006), and load restraint (TLIA1001 / TLID0015). For Dangerous Goods carriage, TLILIC0001 is the standard.

Q: Can I pay for training using Afterpay?

A: Yes. We accept EFTPOS, cash, direct deposit and Afterpay. Course fees for the Licence in a Day options include the Queensland Transport booking fee.
