Truck Licence and Mining Driver Training for Moranbah

Oz Logistics Training delivers heavy vehicle licensing, Dangerous Goods training and compliance certification to drivers and contractors working in and around Moranbah’s coal mining operations. We run HR, HC and MC licence programs, TLILIC0001 Dangerous Goods, Safe Load Programs, and the Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, vehicle inspection and load restraint units that mine site contracts and NHVR audits typically require. Training is delivered on behalf of RTO RAISE (provider number 91655). We don’t operate a facility in Moranbah; we deliver onsite group training at Moranbah and Bowen Basin sites, and individual licensing through our South East Queensland locations.

Training built for the Bowen Basin

Moranbah is a working town. Almost everyone in heavy vehicles here is connected to one of the operations across the Bowen Basin: Goonyella Riverside, Peak Downs, Saraji, Caval Ridge, Moranbah North. The driving work is structured around site induction systems, contractor compliance audits, and shift patterns that don’t leave a lot of room for travel-heavy training schedules.

We’ve built the training offer with that in mind. Compliance and assessment work is delivered onsite where the crew is, not the other way around. Individual licensing is run as Licence in a Day in SEQ so that drivers travelling for training spend one day on it, not a week.

Onsite delivery for Moranbah-based contractors and operators

For operators booking a crew of five or more, we travel to Moranbah and deliver the compliance training, load restraint courses, vehicle inspection competency, and custom VOC assessments at your facility or yard. This format works for the units that don’t require a vehicle from us, which is most of the compliance suite. We schedule around shift changes and roster swings rather than against them.

VOC assessments can be tailored to specific vehicle types, load configurations, or site-condition requirements. If your contract requires evidence that a driver is competent on a particular truck-trailer combination under specific load and route conditions, we’ll build the assessment around that.

Licensing for individual Moranbah drivers

For HR, HC and MC licensing, individual drivers travel to our SEQ training sites. The Licence in a Day product was built for exactly this case: drivers fly or drive in, complete training and assessment in a single day, and head back. The HR Licence in a Day is $995, the HC version is $1,400, and both include the Queensland Transport booking fee.

For drivers who’d rather build experience over multiple sessions (often the case for first-time HC drivers stepping up from HR), hourly lessons are $150 for HR and $170 for HC, with a two-hour minimum.

Why compliance training matters in mining transport

Bowen Basin operators run their compliance systems tight, and the units site auditors most often check are predictable: Chain of Responsibility (TLIF0080 or TLIF0009), fatigue management (TLIF0005 or TLIF0006), load restraint (TLIA1001, TLID0015), vehicle inspection (TLIB0002), and load and unload plant (RIIHAN308F). For Dangerous Goods carriage, TLILIC0001 is the licence the regulators reference.

Bundling these for a full crew during a planned compliance refresh is more cost-effective than chasing certifications individually as contracts come up. We’ll quote crew bookings on request.

Q: Do you come to Moranbah to deliver training?

A: Yes, for group bookings. We deliver Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint, vehicle inspection, load and unload plant, and custom VOC assessments onsite at Moranbah and Bowen Basin facilities. Minimum group size and scheduling are arranged directly with our admin team.

Q: What Dangerous Goods licence do I need to drive a fuel tanker on a Bowen Basin site?

A: TLILIC0001 Licence to Transport Dangerous Goods. This is the nationally recognised driver licence for transporting placard-quantity Dangerous Goods, including fuels, and is the certification accepted across Queensland mining and resource operations.

Q: Can I get my HR licence done in Moranbah?

A: No. HR, HC and MC licensing requires the training vehicle and the Queensland Transport assessment, which we run from our SEQ training sites. The HR Licence in a Day program is the standard option for Moranbah drivers and is structured around minimising time off site.
